Everett Copher
In Memory (1944)
Everett Copher was the founder of Copher & Fesler Funeral Home. Originally located in the downtown business district of Elwood, Everett started his funeral home in 1923. Later the business was moved to it's present location in the "Hupp" family home in the late 1920's. Although Everett was considered a farmer at this time, he sensed the need for a a new funeral home in the Elwood community, and ventured from his farming activities to begin his new business. Treating families with kindness and respect - regardless of finances - soon led to his overwhelming success in the funeral business. Everett was known for his generosity to families in need, and those families never forgot his kindness. Everett passed away suddenly in 1944 leaving his business to his wife, Dolly (Fesler) Copher and his eldest son - J. Phil Copher. Everett set in motion a legacy of dedication and caring for families in their time of need that continues to thrive at the funeral home today.
